Today was a good day.
In the morning, I woke up to the sun's shining rays gently pouring through the cracks between my blue window blinds. Springing out of bed, I immediately got myself ready for the church meeting. I was out of the door within 20 minutes.
The drive to the meeting was very pleasant as well. The air was crisp; the temperature was cool - not cold enough to be uncomfortable, but not warm enough to induce lethargy. There were hardly any red lights, and I was at the meeting hall within 10 minutes.
The meeting was wonderful, as we all participated in praising the Lord with hymns and shouts. As the meeting concluded, I had an inward feeling that the Lord was satisfied today. In the following meeting, I was both compelled to share what I had as well as impressed by what others shared with me.
The lunch which followed afterwards was also very tasty, with just the right balance between rice and side dishes. In addition to the food, the fellowship taking place simultaneously was also quite intriguing, as we discussed cars. I was very much comforted by the others' lack of indulgence in this matter. It was settled that it was much better to get an older or more basic car that works well than to squander unnecessary amounts of money for a luxury car.
With the end of lunch came the cleaning. Mopping the floors, while not the most comfortable of situations, proved to be just as precious, since it was some time I spent simply conversing with the Lord, and with another brother who was sweeping. Though I was one of the last ones who finished mopping, but I was in no hurry to leave.
Having come back home at 2pm, two choices were presented before me. I could either take a nap, or I could enjoy the beautiful day. A mild, sunny 70 degree (Fahrenheit) day on Jan. 30 (still in winter): that's not something that happens very often. In addition, I had washed two Asian pears, and was ready to munch on them while staring out the window, at the pretty little houses across the street, in front of the vast, blue sky. I wanted to just soak this weather in. But, the nap was a more appealing (and later we will see, logical) choice, and eventually won my consent. I opened the blinds, and considered opening the windows as well, before deciding against it, and crawling under the covers. One hour passed by like a minute, and the next thing I knew, the ending song of Slam Dunk! was playing in my ears.
It was time to help out with recording a pray-reading-study-reciting-prophesying session at the meeting hall. Thus, I got dressed at a brisk pace, and set out to do what I needed to do. The recording time went without any major incident. I knocked out a couple Life-studies simultaneously, said, "Bye!", to the brother who was with me, and drove home.
For dinner, I started off with a bag of Baked Lays, while waiting for the soba noodles I was cooking. Accompanying the soba noodles was the compulsory dipping sauce and an assortment of cold vegetables and side dishes.
And, here we are now, making a note here on this pleasant day. The irony of this whole day was that I had slept at 2am, the morning before. Logic and reason would suggest that I would be grouchy today. Perhaps my prayers this morning and simply the Lord's faithfulness kept me today.
