The past two months had been one of quiet toil, consisting of mundane work, killing time eating with friends and socializing, and gaming at home. Then, my car was broken into two days ago. This was probably the first time someone ransacked my car (the second time, if I count the only other time someone took my cell phone from my car). They searched every part of the car for valuables, and ultimately left with a cell phone, a GPS device, and some change. My car was parked in the driveway, at home, in a fairly well-to-do neighborhood in McKinney. It happened during the night - the night of a great storm. I went home at 9PM. The next morning, at 8:30AM, as I walked outside, I noticed the garage was halfway open - the first time something like that had happened. Then, I noticed that my door was left partially open - another sign that something was seriously wrong. When I looked inside, I realized that someone had gone through the car, and sure enough, those two things were missing. Fortunately, I had left my work laptop at work the previous night.
Then, I had dinner with my friend Frank yesterday. It was his birthday. He just bought a new (used) car. Interestingly, he said something to the effect like this is the pinnacle of his career. I took a picture.
